Beatrice Lee is a student who loves to stand out from the crowd. She is eager to come up with out-of-the-box ideas with her peers. She enjoys combining scientific knowledge with these ideas to make them shine in different competitions.
My Story
In the past, she had tried numerous times to gather a group of like-minded people. In junior primary, she had created a Science Team, which was to gather a group of classmates to conduct scientific experiments together. She always thought that the idea of making a time machine was very fancy, so she tried to collect different reusable materials to make one. However, now that she is in junior secondary, she has learnt the concept of relativity, which deeply intrigued me. After discovering more about the subject, she realized that making a time machine is currently theoretically and physically impossible. This was an unforgettable experience that led her into the realms of relativity and science.
To demonstrate leadership, Beatrice has undertaken to engage and lead activities both in and out of school. She has engaged in the International Junior Science Olympiad 2024 Hong Kong Selection and is currently in the top 15 of contestants. She is currently participating in the Hong Kong Gifted Apprentice Programme held by the Hong Kong Academy of Gifted Education, where she is receiving guidance from a SEN expert mentor to work on a project. The project is called “Write and Create” – a self-made Android app that can aid dyslexic students in writing Chinese characters. Beatrice was a UNITAR Young Ambassador in the YAAPP program, where she delivered a pitch on the above project to judges and received a First runner-up award on Inclusivity.
Looking ahead, Beatrice believes that a true path to impact requires an interdisciplinary and intergenerational approach. She believes that entering university is a great cornerstone that opens up to an interspersed network of connections, which can help me find like-minded and intelligent people more easily. She hopes that attending her university can broaden her boundaries and gain a wider scope of knowledge that connects more to the outside world. It can facilitate her future success in her career. She also hopes that her career can involve the creation and execution of ideas of her own along with a group of enthusiasts, and ultimately use their talents to contribute to a better society in the future.
